Dr. Wyman Williams is the Chief of the Space Systems Program Office (SSPO) of the Advanced Concepts Laboratory. The SSPO supports a variety of US Government and commercial sponsors through the design and construction of advanced prototype spaceflight subsystems including active and passive antennas, signal processing hardware and radiometric sensors. Dr. Williams’ research interests include adaptive antenna systems, phased arrays, microwave remote sensing and the application of these to spaceflight systems. Prior to joining GTRI, he spent 15 years building spaceflight hardware for commercial, civil and military customers. He was the RF systems engineer for the nulling antenna beamformers on the MILSTAR II and Advanced EHF spacecraft. Dr. Williams has contributed to programs for a broad spectrum of customers, including NASA, DARPA, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and numerous aerospace prime contractors. He holds three patents and has authored a number of refereed journal articles. Dr. Williams received his B.S.E.E. from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, his S.M. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Chair of the IEEE Atlanta Joint AP-MTT Chapter and Secretary of the IEEE Atlanta Section.
